Inland Empire Association of Black Psychologists

THE BEGINNING of IE ABPsi
Several members who live in the Riverside and San Bernardino County areas met at the annual convention of the Association of Black Psychologists in Phoenix, AZ in July of 2024. Shortly after this event we met on August 10, 2024 to share contacts and have dues paying members volunteer to become officers of the “Inland Empire” chapter of the Association of Black Psychologists.
Our page and social media are under construction but stay with us and watch us grow!

Become a member
The Association of Black Psychologists’ membership is open to professionals in the field of psychology as well as friends of Black psychology (e.g., social workers, counselors, college faculty, administrators, human resource mangers, etc.). They could be considered associate members. Memberships is at two levels: internationally and with a local chapter. Students even have less expensive dues. Learn more at the Association of Black Psychologists website, at abpsi.org. To pay IE local chapter dues ($25 for students and $100 for professionals), use Zelle or CashApp, at ieabpsiinfo@gmail.com
Student Support
The “Inland Empire” covers two very large counties, therefore there are several community colleges and universities. We want to support the development of Black Psychology Student Associations and develop them into official ABPsi Student Circles. For example, we have already started working with Cal State University San Bernardino to start a Black Psychology Student Association, along with a Black Social Science Organization. If you are interested in starting one at your school, please contact us at executive@ieabpsi.com

Black Psychology Black/African Centered psychology is a dynamic manifestation of unifying African principles, values and traditions. It is the self-conscious “centering” of psychological analyses and applications in African realities, cultures, and epistemologies. Black/African centered psychology, as a system of thought and action, examines the processes that allow for the illumination and liberation of the Spirit.
Relying on the principles of harmony within the universe as a natural order of existence, Black/African centered psychology recognizes: the Spirit that permeates everything that is; the notion that everything in the universe is interconnected; the value that the collective is the most salient element of existence; and the idea that communal self knowledge is the key to mental health. Black/African Centered psychology is ultimately concerned with understanding the systems of meaning of human beingness, the features of human functioning, and the restoration of normal/natural order to human development. As such, it is used to resolve personal and social problems and to promote optimal functioning.
